Dusty Roads Mercantile

Hi All

Our new Thanksgiving design is fit for a feast. Yes, those crazy cats are back ready to stuff themselves like the turkey  on their platter. We are showing the design on a brown shirt so the gravy spills won’t be noticeable.

A brown T-shirt, cream tote bag, and black baseball cap displayed together as a merchandise collection. Each item features a festive Thanksgiving design showing four cat characters seated behind a table filled with turkey, pies, pumpkins, and other holiday foods framed by autumn leaves.

Since all of our designs are custom and printed on demand, we recommend you allow 2 weeks between order and deliver. That allows time for printing and for USPS to make the delivery before the big day.

As always our products are backed by Tee Public’s Satisfaction Guarantee.

You can browse all of our designs here.

It All started With A Cranberry

The Cats Have Taken Over Dusty Roads Mercantile

Well, Dusty Roads Mercantile has been open for less than a month, but we’ve sure been busy behind the scenes. Our design selection has already grown to 19 designs, and I’ve noticed something: those crazy cats are starting to take over. It’s still hard for me to believe that it all started with a cranberry.

It wasn’t intentional on my part, but those cats have a way of inserting themselves into everything.

Banner the orange long-haired cat wears a black bow tie, Balboa the black cat sits in a flour sack, an orange cat wearing a press cap holds a microphone, and a white cat dressed as a chef holds a wooden spoon beneath a Dusty Roads Mercantile sign.

I have to admit, I’m pretty proud of these designs.Black cat with bright amber eyes sitting against a light gray background, wearing an oversized red satin bow trimmed in gold around its neck. The cat faces the camera directly, with glossy black fur and alert ears.

The whole crew is ready for a Thanksgiving feast, and Banner and Balboa even posed for a Christmas card-style design. Of course, Balboa couldn’t stop there. He had to become a star in his own right by dressing up in a festive bow. I’m pretty sure he was trying to outshine Banner and his bow tie.

And this gallery was just a start!

Then there’s the design where Banner, Balboa, and Pumpkin Spice have hijacked Santa’s sleigh and are trying to help make Christmas deliveries. I can only imagine what the good little boys and girls will find under their trees this year!

Illustrated holiday scene of three cats riding in a red-and-gold sleigh through a snowy night sky. An orange tabby in a Santa hat sits beside a black cat and a smaller cat wearing a cap, while two reindeer pull the sleigh beneath a large glowing full moon. Golden sparkles swirl around the sleigh, and snow-covered pine trees line the hillside below.

But hold on, we haven’t even reached Thanksgiving yet. We’ve got a couple of turkey-themed designs, because no Thanksgiving is complete without a turkey. Then Banner, Balboa, and Pumpkin Spice arrive as pilgrims bearing pies and apples to celebrate the first Thanksgiving.

Three cats dressed in Pilgrim-style clothing pose around a rustic harvest table. An orange cat holds a basket filled with corn, a black cat sits beside a pile of red apples, and another orange cat holds a pumpkin pie topped with whipped cream. Autumn leaves, pumpkins, lantern light, and fall decorations create a warm Thanksgiving-themed scene.

Not everything is seasonal.

Orange tabby cat wearing a straw hat labeled “PRESS” and colorful floral board shorts balances on a bright red-and-yellow surfboard riding a curling ocean wave. Water splashes around the board as the cat surfs against a vivid blue sky in a playful, cartoon-style beach scene.Pumpkin Spice heads to the beach in the surfing design, and there’s even a motivational design of sorts: Aim High and Fail Big. If you’re going to do it, don’t hold back. Go all in!

We’ve also got coffee-loving Banner enjoying his morning cup, while a few Halloween designs are still hanging around. And to think, it all started with a cranberry.

Black T-shirt featuring a retro-style motivational design with mountains, a rocket launching into the sky, and the bold text, "Aim High Fail Big Go for it." The artwork includes bright orange and yellow sunset colors, stars, a target, and a crashing rocket near flames at the bottom, creating a humorous twist on inspirational themes.

A dark brown tote bag is worn over one shoulder against a light gray background. The front of the bag features a vintage-style Dusty Roads Mercantile design showing four cats in a rustic wooden shop setting: an orange cat in a bow tie, a black cat, an orange cat dressed as a reporter holding a microphone with a "PRESS" hat, and a white cat wearing a chef's hat and holding a wooden spoon. Additional details include a small teddy bear and wooden crates labeled "Flour" and "Fragile," with the "Dusty Roads Mercantile" sign displayed above the cats. The collection is growing fast, and new designs are already on the way. Personally, I plan to pick up a T-shirt or two and definitely a tote bag. Maybe even one featuring the WMEO crew.

This has been so much fun, and I hope you’re enjoying the designs as much as I am. From T-shirts, hoodies, mugs, hats, stickers, and tote bags to long-sleeved tops for those cold New England days, there’s something for just about everyone. We even have pillows, wall art, and apparel for babies and kids.

The store may be fictional, but the products are real. So come wander the imaginary aisles with me and see what mischief the crew has been getting into.

Evergreen branches, pinecones, red berries, and a large red bow decorate the bottom of the design, creating a festive Christmas portrait.

Banner & Balboa Need Your Help!

The Choice Is Yours: Which Christmas Design Wins?

Banner and Balboa have been hard at work helping with the Christmas decorating. Well… “helping” might not be the right word when vintage Christmas lights are involved!

As I worked on this year’s Christmas T-shirt design, I ended up with three different versions featuring the boys in Santa hats. Each one has a slightly different look, and now I can’t decide which one I like best.

The Choice Is Yours!

Which design is your favorite?

Leave a comment below and tell me which version you like best:

#1 Classic Christmas Garland

#2 Garland & Vintage Lights

#3 Vintage C7 Lights & Snowflakes

Bonus points if you tell us why you picked your favorite. Banner and Balboa are curious!

I can’t promise the boys will read every comment, but I’m sure they’ll appreciate all the attention.

Thanks for helping choose this year’s Christmas T-shirt design!

Aim High. Fail Big.

Aim High. Fail Big.

Most motivational quotes focus on success.

“If you can dream it, you can do it.”

“Keep your face always toward the sunshine, and shadows will fall behind you.”

They’re positive and uplifting. They’re meant to inspire us to believe that anything is possible.

But what happens when things don’t work out?

Most people fail a few times along the way. When you’re standing in the rubble of a dream that didn’t quite pan out, those pie-in-the-sky promises can feel a little hollow. Where are the inspirational quotes when you’re dusting yourself off and figuring out what comes next?

As someone who has started numerous endeavors and failed spectacularly more than once, I’ve learned that failure isn’t the end of the story.

Every failure teaches you something. Each time you get back up and try again, you bring a little more experience, knowledge, and skill with you.

Over the years I’ve reinvented myself more times than I can count: musician, insurance adjuster, headhunter, dance instructor, photographer, real estate professional, Mary Kay consultant (and I don’t even wear makeup!), and most recently, the owner of a dropshipping store called Welcoming Haven.

Some ventures succeeded. Some didn’t.

But I kept getting back up, brushing myself off, and trying again.

One of these days I’ll find the perfect mix. Until then, I’ll keep aiming high.

A while back, while reading the Stephanie Plum series, I ran across a phrase that stopped me in my tracks. The quote came from Lula, one of the series’ unforgettable larger-than-life characters:

Aim High. Fail Big.

Black t-shirt featuring the phrase “Aim High, Fail Big, Go for it!” in bold vintage-style lettering, with a rocket launch, mountain landscape, target with arrows, and crashing airplane illustration in retro sunset colors.

I loved it immediately because it felt honest.

If you’re going to try something, really go for it. Don’t tiptoe around the edges. Don’t play it so safe that success becomes impossible.

Aim high.

And if you fail?

Fail spectacularly.

Go down in a blaze of glory, learn what you can, and start over.

That’s life.

That’s certainly been my life.

So I created this design because it perfectly captures a philosophy I’ve come to believe in. If you’re willing to dream big, take chances, and keep getting back up when things don’t go according to plan, you might find the message speaks to you too.

The Aim High. Fail Big. design is now available on T-shirts, mugs, totes, and more in my newest venture, Dusty Roads Mercantile.

I’m sure Lula would approve.

Come browse with me. You never know what you’ll discover down a dusty road.
