WMEO Tuesday: Oktoberfest Is Over!

Balboa: Guten Tag, viewers. WMEO brings you breaking news from the international desk. Oktoberfest season in New England… is officially over.

Banner: It ended two weeks ago.

Balboa:Two weeks ago. Before your lead reporter could secure a pretzel, a stein, or even a whiff of sauerkraut. The Boylston Schul‑Verein festival sold out faster than I could knock something off the counter.

Banner: You didn’t even know it existed until this morning.

Banner: Hold your steins, Taunton — we interrupt this Oktoberfest banter with breaking news out of Alaska. Katmai has spoken. The Final Two in the Fat Bear Contest are officially Bear 910 and Bear 89.

Balboa: It’s down to the wire. Two bears. One crown. And a whole lot of salmon that didn’t make it.

Banner: The winner will be crowned tomorrow, so stay tuned — WMEO will be on the scene with full coverage, dramatic commentary, and probably Pumpkin Spice wearing a tiny parka.

Balboa: That is irrelevant. What matters is the injustice. New England Oktoberfests are “blink and you miss it.” Munich gets sixteen days. We get… a weekend. A single weekend. And apparently everyone bought tickets except me.

Banner: No one is delivering you a pretzel.

Balboa: We’ll see. In the meantime, Prost to next year. WMEO will be ready. I will be ready. And I will not be denied again.

Banner: Please take the hat off.

Balboa: Never. It’s part of my heritage now.

Banner: You’re from Taunton.

Balboa: A Bavarian at heart.
